SEO Tips - Do You Need to Hire an Expert

Let me start off by saying that there are quite a few areas, when it comes to your business, where you really should hire an expert, such as if you need a sales letter written. A great copywriter can make a big difference in the results that you get. But what about when it comes to optimizing your site for the search engines? Do you REALLY have to hire an expert? This article is going to give you this one man's opinion on the subject. Take it for what it's worth to you.
Unlike copywriting, which brings you immediate results, SEO is a long process. You don't put up a site and get results overnight. Proper SEO requires on page as well as off page optimization...and that takes time. Okay, so what does this have to do with hiring an expert?
With a sales page, the minute you put that page up, you are going to get people to see it and will then either get results (if the letter is well written) or not get results (if the letter is poorly written). This is a time sensitive and time critical piece of your puzzle. But with search engine optimization, not so. Think about it. A brand new web site is probably not going to get any visitors when it's first put up...no matter how well optimized the page itself is.
Therefore, you have time to actually work on the optimization itself. You can afford to take time to actually learn your craft. And make no mistake about it...SEO CAN be learned. It's not really hard. The on page techniques are really very basic and simple. It's off page that gets a little complicated. But that's going to take time no matter who does it.
Besides, this is a skill that, once it's learned, can come in handy for a very long time and for a number of reasons. One of those, ironically enough, is that someday YOU will be the expert and the go to person. People will be coming to YOU for optimizing their pages.
And then there is one other thing to realize. It's not so easy to find an expert in this area, at least one you can trust. A lot of people CLAIM to be experts but really, when it comes down to it, they don't know their web page from a hole in the ground. And then, when you find out you've been taken, there is no making up for all that lost time.
Here's the bottom line as I see it. Learn how to do your own search engine optimization. It will save you money to begin with, especially if it's money you don't have, and it will be a skill that you will ALWAYS be able to use.
